RTK4 ROOFTOP

The RTK4 is smaller capacity version of the RTK5 and are designed for many applications, such as medium & small machine, trucks, tractors, motor homes and any type of mid size equipment with a flat roof. The unit is constructed from 2mm steel with a fibreglass top cover, the plenum is injected moulded plastic and has the same configuration as the RTK5. Evaporator and condenser coils are copper tube and fin.

Unit cooling capacity is 13,700 BTU = 4kw. This unit is a great match up with the DRB3 electric compressor. The unit can be used with an engine drive or with the DRB series compressor in sleeper cabs, small machines or equipment were there is restricted room and it makes a relatively easy installation. Note: Auxiliary batteries must be used (AGM) deep cycle only when running the unit from the DRB3 for sleeper cab situations. The unit is ideal for small excavators, small tractors, and single crane cabins. It is powerful enough to do standard truck cabins. Its small foot print makes it easy placement on most roofs.

the air flow coming from the plenum outlets run east, west, south and directly from two eye ball vents. As per diagram of the plenum, the front small outlets provide good ventilation to the front screen which helps retain fogging, also the side windows.

The unit has easy mounting positions and comes with a 10mm EVA foam base, the unit (must) be sealed with a 227 sikaflex (not silicone). In the case of ribbed roofs, the installer must obtain 20mm EVA foam for the base. Remember, the unit is only good as the installer. it is important the fitter is certified to work on this type of equipment.

This unit is more suited for trucks with, eg, were the park lights are up front and traditionally long neck. Unit comes ready for hook-up, Add your discharge and suction hoses to the engine compressor or electric drive and power feed. Unit takes around 750grams of 134a gas, depending on hose length.

Unit cooling capacity is 18,000 BTU = 5.2kw if the compressor has enough capacity, such as a Sanden H-15 or H-14 etc. Smaller compressors still can have the capacity to work the unit, as most auto air conditioner compressors are over capacity on med to high RPM.

The unit is easy to install and requires no major cut out, this is a big winner in regards to roof support and installers time for the cut out. The RTK5 will cool most large cabs without any problem, in our experience we have not come across any machine that we could not cool with it. From Backhoes to D9 and D10 dozers. In some cases the unit can not be installed on some truck roofs eg, where the park lights are up front and traditionally long or heavy angles. Unit comes ready to plg and play, discharge and suction hoses and positive and negative and the clutch wire is all that is needed, Unit takes around 900grams of 134a gas, depending on hose lengths. We have sold these units to light refrigeration vehicles, such as flowers and chocolate goods.
